Hello, everyone!

On behalf of all of us here at The Digital Bits, I just wanted to take a moment on this lovely Christmas Eve day to wish each of you a Happy Christmas and a very Happy Holidays!

It’s obviously been a challenging year on Planet Earth, for a whole host of different reasons.

We’ve certainly had our own share of difficulties to overcome in 2025, as we endured a series of major technical issues here at the site.

Some of us have had health issues to deal with as well—thus far with positive outcomes, thankfully.

Now then, I’m making an effort to catch up on a bunch of announcement news that’s happened over the last couple of weeks. As many of you know, I’ve had a couple of challenges here at The Bits lately, including recovering from prostate surgery and also my PC died on the Friday before Thanksgiving, which has necessitated buying a replacement, getting it set up, installing all my old software, reorganizing my files, etc., all in an effort to get back up to speed. And I’m getting there—right now, even the simplest tasks are just a little bit different, and taking just a little bit more time and effort than usual to accomplish, as I settle into the new machine. Greetings, everyone!

This is Bill, editor of The Digital Bits, checking in with a quick update.

I just wanted to let you all know that our week of site maintenance here at The Bits appears to have gone well and is now essentially complete.

We’re going to be doing some testing here over the next 24 hours or so, just to make sure that everything is functioning normally and that all is well.

If that turns out indeed to be the case, as I expect, I’ll resume normal My Two Cents news postings probably tomorrow sometime.

We’re back!

Sorry for the absence of news posts over these last few days, folks. It’s been a busy and chaotic week here at The Bits—not so much work wise, but personal life. Our family’s had a flurry of doctors appointments (all routine, thanks goodness, but still disruptive) and I’ve had to run a car in for servicing. Man, I hate it when real life intrudes on my 4K disc time! Anyway, things seem to be settling down, so it’s time to catch up on news, and then I’ll be working on some new disc reviews myself over the coming days as well.

First though, we do have a couple of reviews to share with you from the team, including...

Tim’s look at Tarsem Singh’s The Cell (2000) in 4K Ultra HD from Arrow Video—something of a complicated title to review, given its unique production characteristics, as well as the fact that Arrow implemented a disc replacement program.

And Stephen’s thoughts on Robert Wise’s The Andromeda Strain (1971) in 4K Ultra HD, also from Arrow Video, a terrific sci-tech thriller adapting Michael Crichton’s influential 1969 novel of the same name.

Now then... in announcement news today, Marvel and Disney have just officially set Julius Onah’s Captain America: Brave New World (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 5/13, with the Digital release expected next week on 4/15. The 4K disc will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Extras will include audio commentary with Julius Onah and director of photography Kramer Morgenthau, 3 deleted scenes (A Heartfelt Thanks, The Mission, and Stick Around), a gag reel, and 2 featurettes (Assuming the Man and Old Scores, New Scars).
