Afternoon, Bits readers! Thanks for your patience with the lack of a news update yesterday. Sarah and I took the opportunity this past weekend to drive up the Central Coast of California to visit some friends there. And we packed so much in over a couple days that we needed most of Monday to recoup. But we saw elephant seals, otters, and Hearst Castle, so the trip was worth it.

Now then, we’ve got a pair of new disc reviews for you today...

Stephen has turned in his thoughts on Matthew Bright’s Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby (1999) on 4K Ultra HD from Vinegar Syndrome.

And Dennis has offered his take on George Archainbaud’s Thanks for the Memory (1938) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. The film stars Bob Hope and Shirley Ross.

In announcement news today, Paramount has officially announced Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin’s Scream VI for release on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K UHD Steelbook release on 7/11, with the Digital release available today (4/25). Extras will include audio commentary with the filmmakers and 6 behind-the-scenes featurettes (Death Comes to the City, The Faces of Death, More Meta than Meta, Bloodbath at a Bodega, An Apartment to Die For, The Night Train to Terror, and Theater of Blood). A Gag Reel is also included as a Digital exclusive. [Read on here...]

Lionsgate has set the western One Ranger for Blu-ray release on 6/13. The film stars Thomas Jane and John Malkovich.

Lionsgate is also releasing The Walking Dead: The Complete Series on Digital on 5/30. SRP is $99.99.

And the studio has Somewhere in Queens coming Digitally as well on 6/6.

Kino Lorber is releasing Giordano Gederlini’s neo-noir thriller On the Edge on Blu-ray on 5/2.

Mill Creek Entertainment has a pair of Blu-ray double features set for release on 7/11, including a Richard Pryor Double Feature of Which Way Is Up? and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings, as well as a White Noise Double Feature of White Noise and White Noise 2.

Here’s something interesting: Leonine Studios is releasing Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence on 4K Ultra HD in Germany on 7/14. Note however that no English subtitles or English-dubbed audio track will be included. Thanks to Bits reader Peter X. for the heads-up.

Altered Innocence is releasing Patrice Chéreau’s The Wounded Man (1983) on Blu-ray on 5/23.

Also today, our friends at Synapse Films and Red Shirt Pictures have announced that they’re working on a new 4K Ultra HD restoration and release of Charles Martin Smith’s rock and roll/horror classic Trick or Treat (1986). There’s no word yet on a street date, except that the company hopes to have it out sometime later this year. Good news indeed!

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed another new Blu-ray 3D collaboration with the 3-D Film Archive: George Marshall’s Money from Home (1953). That’s coming soon. Meanwhile, the company has officially set Tom Gries’s Will Penny (1968) for release on Blu-ray on 6/27.

Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...
