All right, sorry for the late post today. It’s been a little nuts here at The Bits home office this afternoon.

In any case, Dennis has a new review for you. He’s checked out Alan J. Pakula’s The Parallax View (1974) on Blu-ray from our friends at the Criterion Collection. You’ll find that here.

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC have set the animated Justice Society: World War II for release on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 5/11, with the Digital release expected on 4/27 (SRP $29.98 and $39.99). Extras will include the DC Showcase – Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth! animated short, the Adventures in Storytelling – Justice Society: World War II featurette, a sneak peek of the next DCU film (Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One), two Look Back featurettes (Justice League vs. Teen Titans and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines), and two episodes From the DC Vault (Justice League: Legends, Part One and Justice League: Legends, Part Two). While we’re talking 4K today, we’ve learned of a few more Ultra HD catalog titles that are on the way in April and May. Look for Last Action Hero, Snatch, Big Fish, and In the Line of Fire from Sony, as well as Smokey and the Bandit and at least a couple of the Hitchcock Collection titles as single-film SKUs from Universal. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.

And while we’re on the subject of Universal, the studio has just officially set Paul Greengrass’ News of the World for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/23.

Also today, Powerhouse and Indicator Films have revealed their April Blu-ray slate, which is set to include Age of Consent, Castle Keep, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Lilith, The 3 Worlds of Gulliver, and The Odessa File on 4/2, followed by To Sir with Love, Mr. Sardonicus, and Born of Fire on 4/30. Note that many of these are re-issues of titles previously released as limited editions or in box sets.

Meanwhile, Paramount has set The Bad News Bears for release on Blu-ray on 3/30.

And Mill Creek Entertainment will release Dave Chappelle’s Block Party on Blu-ray on 4/20.

Heads-up that Amazon has just listed Blue Underground’s The Final Countdown in 4K Ultra HD. It’s not yet available for pre-order but we expect that to change at any moment. Also newly available for pre-order are Arrow Video’s Donnie Darko 4K and Warner’s Godzilla (2014) 4K. Here’s the cover artwork for all three (with said Amazon links)...

Godzilla (2014) (4K Ultra HD) The Final Countdown (4K Ultra HD) Donnie Darko (4K Ultra HD)

Here too is the cover artwork for a few other upcoming titles, most newly available for pre-order on Amazon, and some of which we’ve mentioned above...

Justice Society: World War II (4K Ultra HD) Spaceballs (4K Ultra HD) The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (4K Ultra HD)

To Sir with Love (Blu-ray Disc) Dave Chappelle's Block Party (Blu-ray Disc) The Bad News Bears (Blu-ray Disc)

Finally, before we go today, ArsTechnica has posted an interesting article on the possibility that Apple is working on an 8K VR headset. This would seem to be a product meant for industry and not consumers, but still... potentially very interesting. You can read more on that here.

And that’s all for today. Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...!
