Now then, the big news today is that Disney and Marvel have just set Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts* (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K Steelbook release on 7/29, with the Digital release due on 7/1. The 4K will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Extras will include 2 deleted scenes, 3 featurettes (Assembling a Team to Remember, Around the World and Back Again, and All About Bob, Sentry & The Void), a Gag Reel, and audio commentary with the director. Note that there will also be a Walmart-exclusive Blu-ray with “pop-up” packaging. Here’s what the 4K Steelbook looks like…
In other news today, Kino Lorber is debuting a new 4K remaster of Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth (2009) in theaters today in NYC (and tomorrow in LA), which means it’s likely that a physical 4K UHD may follow later in the year.
Kino Lorber has also just announced a new 2-disc Made in New Jersey Blu-ray collection, which includes 14 films made in Fort Lee, NJ, aka “America’s First Film Town” from 1909 to 1939. Look for that to street next week on 6/24.
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed a few more new Blu-ray titles coming in August, including Norman Taurog’s Huckleberry Finn (1931) on 8/12, and Jess Franco’s The Vengeance of Dr. Mabuse (1972) and Bob Logan’s Repossessed (1990) on 8/19. And following on 8/16 is Wayne Wang’s Smoke (1995).
Meanwhile, Second Sight has announced a pair of new August 4K UHD + Blu-ray Limited Editions, including Ti West’s The Innkeepers (2011) and Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Pusher Trilogy (1996-2005). The Street date is 8/25, and you can pre-order them both here.
And finally, as many of you may be aware, today is the 50th anniversary of the release of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. So we’re celebrating it in a couple different ways today…
First, we encourage you to check out the excellent History, Legacy & Showmanship retrospective that our own Michael Coate did on the making and release of the film here at The Bits back in 2015 for its 40th anniversary. You’ll find that here, or by clicking on the image below…
Also, the good folks over at The Daily Jaws have something very special cooked up for this occasion, so we recommend you check that out here at their website around Noon Pacific today (again, click on the image below)…
That’s all for this week.
Have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday. Cheers!
