Tim has reviewed the DreamWorks animated spin-off/sequel Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 4K Ultra HD from Universal.

In announcement news today, Lionsgate has revealed a new Best Buy-exclusive 4K Ultra HD Steelbook edition of Lord of War (2005) for release on 6/6.

Our friends at Turbine Media in Germany have announced that David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch (1991) is coming to 4K Ultra HD in three new Mediabook editions on 4/28. Look for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, along with English and German DTS-HD MAS 5.1 and 2.0 audio as well as lots of new and legacy extras. You can find those available here.

Cauldron Films is releasing City of the Living Dead (1980) on 4K Ultra HD in a wide release version on 8/15 (their limited edition 4K came out on 3/24).

Likewise, Ignite Films will release a wide 4K version of Invaders from Mars (1953) in 4K Ultra HD on 7/11 (their limited edition came out in December of last year).

It looks like Universal is releasing The Event: The Complete Series on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/6. Some of you may recall that it ran on NBC all the way back in 2010-2011. Apparently, it’s done pretty well in streaming on NBC.com.

Cleopatra Entertainment is releasing Shinji Higuchi’s Shin Ultraman (2022) on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/11.

And Imprint Films’ June catalog Blu-ray slate will include Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty (1984), Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s Leap (2020), Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malèna (2000), Zhang Yimou’s Not One Less (1999), Paweł Pawlikowski’s My Summer of Love (2004), and Louis Malle’s Damage (1992). Look for those to street on or around 6/28. Also coming from Imprint are standard edition Blu-ray re-issues of Akira Kurosawa’s Dersu Uzala (1975) and David Lynch’s The Straight Story (1999) on 7/19, in case any of you missed the original releases. You can find them here.

Finally today, Robert Meyer Burnett and I will be hosting another edition of The Kurlan Naiskos: A Picard Season Three Aftershow tonight on YouTube at 9 PM Pacific. We’ll be talking about this week’s episode, 3x09 Võx, which was written by Sean Tretta and Kiley Rossetter, and directed by showrunner Terry Matalas. And it’s a real banger. You can tune in below. Feel free to join us live and we’ll even answer viewer questions!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
