Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has also just announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Steelbook release of Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later (2025) on 9/23, with the Digital version expected on 7/29. Both Blu-ray SKUs will feature Dolby Atmos audio, while the 4K will have Dolby Vision HDR. Extras will include Days to Years, Capturing the Chaos, The Survivors, Becoming the Infected, and Behind the Cameras. (Unfortunately, still no word on re-issues of 28 Days Later or 28 Weeks Later on any format.)
Universal will re-issue Judd Apatow’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) in 4K Ultra HD Steelbook format on 8/12 in honor of the film’s 20th anniversary. It will include an all-new 20th Anniversary Discussion panel with Judd Apatow, Steve Carell, Catherine Keener, Jane Lynch, Kat Dennings, and Gerry Bednob recorded at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The film will also return to theaters briefly from 8/22 to 8/28.
Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has just announced that they’re releasing a Peanuts: 75th Anniversary Ultimate TV Specials Collection on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/7. The 5-disc set will include a whopping 40 specials aired from 1965 to 2011, along with a 28-page booklet.

Warner and DC have also just set Juan Meza-Léon’s animated reimagining Aztech Batman: Clash of Empires (2025) for 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on 9/23. Look for the Digital release on 9/19.
Speaking of Warner and DC, I first broke this news on our social media back on 7/15, but I’ve officially confirmed that their forthcoming Superman: 5-Film Collection 4K Ultra HD Amazon-exclusive box set (which is due to street on 9/2) includes newly-authored 4K discs that fix audio and video errors with the previous 4K editions. Specific fixes include:
- Superman: The Movie now includes both the original 6-track audio and the original 2.0 audio in lossless DTS-HD MA (in addition to the Atmos mix)—the Christopher Reeve credit in the film also no longer has the weird video glitch.
- Superman II includes an improved Atmos mix that corrects the various “wow” and pitch issues on the previous 4K disc.
- Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut features a video fix to the geometry of the iconic final shot of the film, in which Superman smiles at the camera—the shot on the previous 4K disc was oddly squished horizontally.
- And Superman IV: The Quest for Peace includes an improved Atmos mix that corrects the inadvertent use of various alternate (and incorrect) musical performance cues.
NOTE: The Superman III disc in this set is unchanged from the previous 4K release.
So essentially, it appears that this new box set corrects all of the issues that reviewers and fans have identified from the previous 4K package. You can pre-order it on Amazon via this link. (Also, if you have the previous box set and you’re wondering if replacement discs will be made available, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. And here’s one more from Warner and MGM: Look for the Sean Connery James Bond films that were recently released as a 4K box set—Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Diamonds Are Forever—to be released as individual Amaray 4K SKUs on 9/23.
Also today, our friends at Via Vision’s Imprint Films have revealed their next three Imprint Asia branded Blu-ray titles for release in September, including Ang Lee’s Father Knows Best: A Trilogy—including Pushing Hands (1991), The Wedding Banquet (1993), and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994)—as well as Mabel Cheung’s An Autumn’s Tale (1987) and Kayo Hatta’s Picture Bride (1994). The street date should be 9/24.
Also coming on Blu-ray from Imprint in September are the Space: 1999 – Super Space Theater box set—which includes Destination: Moon Base Alpha (1978), Alien Attack (1979), Journey Through the Black Sun (1982), Cosmic Princess (1982), and Spazio: 1999 (1975)—as well as Bewitched: Seasons 7 & 8 (1970-72), the Tales of Adventure: Collection 7 box set—including The Thief of Bagdad (1924), The Thief of Bagdad (1940), and The Thief of Baghdad (1961)—Tales of Adventure: Collection 8—including the Jules Verne classics 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916), Master of the World (1961), Valley of the Dragons (1961), War-Gods of the Deep (1965), Jules Verne’s Rocket to the Moon (1967), and The Light at the Edge of the World (1971)—and Tales of Adventure: Collection 9—which includes the Doug McClure-produced and Kevin Connor-directed films The Land That Time Forgot (1974), At the Earth’s Core (1976), The People That Time Forgot (1977), and Warlords of Atlantis (1978). Whew! The street date for all of these is 9/24 as well.
And finally in 4K Ultra HD, Imprint will release Greg McLean’s Wolf Creek (2005) on 9/24. Note that the company has also revealed that they’re going to be releasing their own 4K SKUs of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill 1 & 2 and Jackie Brown—those are coming soon.
Back with more tomorrow! Stay tuned…
