We’re pleased today to present the final review of Adam’s month-long Hell Plaza Oktoberfest 8 here at The Bits: It’s none other than the 1977 zombie/Nazi classic Shock Waves, directed by Ken Wiederhorn and presented on Blu-ray by Blue Underground! I’ve gotten a hoot out of it – have loved reconnecting with high school friends and long lost family and have discovered as well that there are people in the world with pages dedicated to interests close to my heart, such as those kept by my favorite authors, pictures of the New York I loved in the 70s and 80s and tributes to great character actors such as Timothy Carey.  [Read on here...]

Where does the time go?

One day, you’re just a young lad picking up your first kitchen knife, learning to sew gloves with blades on them or masks made out of human flesh, maybe drowning in your favorite camp’s lake. The next thing you know, years have gone past. You’ve stabbed, chopped and otherwise mutilated so many horny teenagers that the act itself has lost all meaning. All right, we’ve got a couple cool things of you guys today, plus we’re issuing a challenge to the folks in charge at Warner Home Video. More on that in a sec.

First, the good Dr. Jahnke has just posted his penultimate Blu-ray review in this year’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest, and it’s a Christmas crossover horror classic: The Silent Night, Deadly Night: 30th Anniversary Edition from Anchor Bay!

It’s time for GripeSoda’s final Halloween themed List-o-Mantic of 2014.

We did Zombies. We did Vampires. Today, I bring you the 10 Best Multiple-Murdering Movie Maniacs...  according to me.

I’m going to get some grief for this one, but it really boils down to how watchable these monsters are over the course of the films they headline. There are two on this list that, if you’re unfamiliar with, seek them out and enjoy. Notable missings (but worth mentionings): Jigsaw, Ghostface Killer and Norman Bates. [Read on here…]

First up, Adam’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest review for the day is none other than Rino Di Silvestro’s 1976 film Werewolf Woman, on Blu-ray from RaroVideo. Just two more Oktoberfest titles to go!

Also today here at the site, we have Adam’s weekly Burnt Offerings: MOD DVD column, running down this week’s new small batch titles. And Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section this week as well, with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork, as well as Amazon pre-order links.  [Read on here…]

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed an alarming increase in the number of MOD titles that are simply re-releases of out-of-print discs and a decrease in the number of never-before-released movies. We’re probably going to be seeing a lot more of that, unfortunately. But at least this week, there are a few brand new Most Wanted picks making their overdue DVD debuts. Okay… my apologies for the lack of a daily column yesterday. I find myself unexpectedly fighting a computer problem that’s keeping me from getting a lot of regular work done. So I’ve been stuck here in the lab pulling my hair out like a mad scientist for quite a few hours. Hope to have that resolved by the end of the day today.
