A quick note before we start today’s post: A bunch of you have e-mailed over the past week or so and I’ve got a bit of a backlog in getting back to everyone. So if you haven’t heard from me yet, I’ll do my best to respond to all of you over the next few days. Thanks for your patience!

Now then... let’s have an overdue announcement news round-up, shall we?

First up today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is going to be releasing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on 4K Ultra HD on 11/7 (SRP $31.99 each), along with the previously revealed Harry Potter 8-Film Collection in 4K UHD (SRP around $215.99). We’re awaiting the studio’s official press release, but Walmart already has the discs listed. Pre-orders are not up yet on Amazon, but we’ll add the links as soon as they are. All right, we’ve got a couple more pieces of announcement news for you today, along with a TON of new cover artwork...

The news is that Shout! Factory has officially set the Matinee: Collector’s Edition as their next Shout Select Blu-ray release on 12/12, along with the comedy The Trip to Spain, starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Interestingly, Shout! has also announced a new 4K Ultra HD title for release that same day: IMAX: Mysteries of China. They also have Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom coming on 12/5.

Meanwhile, Scream Factory has set American Gothic (1988) for Blu-ray release on 12/19, and has the Hell Night: Collector’s Edition coming on BD on 12/12, as well as the Silent Night, Deadly Night: Collector’s Edition on 12/5, as we mentioned yesterday. [Read on here…]

Good morning, Bits readers. We trust that all those of you here in the States had a fine long holiday weekend with your family and friends. We’ve been busy here at the site over that time in a couple of ways...

First of all, we’ve posted four new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray reviews, all by yours truly, including Universal’s The Great Wall, Warner’s Unforgiven, and Sony’s The Fifth Element: 20th Anniversary Edition and Léon: The Professional (which is a Best Buy exclusive title initially). All four discs are well your time for various reasons, so do give them a look. More 4K reviews are coming soon.

Now then, we’ll get back to 4K in a moment, but first we wanted to let you know that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Frank Capra’s Lost Horizon: 80th Anniversary Edition for release on Blu-ray on 10/3, mastered from a new 4K restoration and in Capra Collection Digibook packaging. Extras will include restoration audio commentary, an alternate ending, a photo documentary, the Restoration: Before and After Comparison featurette, and the film’s theatrical trailer.
