Well... the last 24 hours have been a little crazy for movie fans, haven’t they? I attended Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim yesterday for the big panel of the morning, at which the new Episode VII teaser trailer was revealed by producer Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams. Some background on my personal experience: The night before, great friends both old and new gathered for a pre-convention dinner. My wife Sarah and I were there, along with veteran Blu-ray producers Charles de Lauzirika and Cliff Stephenson, and Alec Peters and Diana Kingsbury of Propworx and Star Trek: Axanar fame. (Unable to attend because of work, BD producer Robert Meyer Burnett was there in spirit.) We learned that fans had actually started lining up to attend the panel earlier that morning so, somehow or other, it was decided that we should probably get in line ourselves around 5 AM in order to make sure we made it into the room. And, somehow or other, everybody was game for it. So get in line we did, along with thousands of others: Myself, Alec, Diana, Charlie and Cliff, joined by Chris Gore of Film Threat. We posed for a selfie to commemorate the insanity (at left – taken by Alec).  [Read on here…]

We’ve got a bunch of stuff to go over today to finish off the week...

First up, though, go see Godzilla this weekend if you get the chance. It’s a pretty good film. It’s not perfect, but director Gareth Edwards definitely gets the Godzilla mystique and he’s crafted an interesting and entertaining film. By the way, when you go, you might also get a look at the new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming Interstellar, which I’m cautiously getting excited about.

All right, here at The Bits today, our very own Dr. Adam Jahnke has turned in a fine new JET installment featuring his latest An Honor to Be Nominated, this time looking back at director Robert Altman’s Nashville (1975). Don’t miss it. [Read on here...]

All right, real quick update today with great news at least for you Twin Peaks fans! Almost exactly a year after we first broke the news here at The Digital Bits that CBS was hard at work on a Blu-ray upgrade of their own Definitive Gold Box Edition DVD release, CBS has just revealed via Entertainment Weekly that Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery and The Missing Pieces will street on Blu-ray Disc on 7/29 (you can pre-order it now here on Amazon.com). The set will even include 90 minutes’ worth never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes from the film. Full specs are available here and we'll talk more about the extras tomorrow. All right, we’ve got a couple more things for you today…

First, a few more of our retail sources have dropped us e-mails to essentially confirm the Australian Twin Peaks information from yesterday.  The gist is that retailers have been hearing about potential April street dates for the Blu-ray set from Paramount down under (which distributes for CBS), but that the final release date is still very much subject to change.  So the upshot is, the title is definitely coming, but continue to be patient.  [Read on here...]
