Well... I suppose you could call this Star Wars week, given Disney’s The Force Awakens arrives on Blu-ray tomorrow. I know that some of you have already received your copies in the mail – a few online retailers (including Target, Best Buy and Amazon) began shipping them to pre-order customers early. If you haven’t done so yet, you can pre-order a copy via Amazon here at this link. And of course, you can read our in-depth review of the Blu-ray here at The Bits. It’s a pretty good release – fine Blu-ray A/V quality and that documentary is a gem. I expect there will be more than a few people around the States who end up coming down with cases of “Force flu” this week to stay home and check it out. Today’s post is a quick one, but we’ve got a few important updates for you...

First, we’ve confirmed with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment that their forthcoming Independence Day: 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray should include nearly all of the bonus features from previous releases with the exception of the interactive game that was present on the last Blu-ray release. We hope to have the full list soon, as well as an update on the release of UHD release of ID4K (probably day and date with BD and DVD, but we’re waiting for official confirmation of that).  [Read on here…]

Here at The Bits this afternoon, we’ve got another new Blu-ray review for you from Jim Hemphill, this time featuring a look at Gordon Douglas’s 1968 neo-noir crime drama The Detective, which stars Frank Sinatra. This great classic title is now available on disc from our friends at Twilight Time, so don’t miss it.
