Dr. Jahnke’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest review for today is none other than a 1988 horror classic, directed by the great Stan Winston and now available from Scream Factory on Blu-ray. I’m speaking, of course, of the lovely new Pumpkinhead: Collector’s Edition. Enjoy!  [Read on here…]

We’ve got two new columns for you to enjoy today as well. Todd runs down his picks for the best of this week’s new Blu-ray and DVD releases, and also lists his picks for 10 Best Vampire Movies, in Doogan’s Queue. And Adam tells tales of new Manufactured on Demand DVD & BD releases to satisfy your deep catalog cravings in his latest Burnt Offerings column. Don’t miss ‘em.

Also today, Russell Hammond has posted the weekly update of our Release Dates & Artwork section, featuring all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork complete with Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, any time you order anything from Amazon after clicking to them through our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and it really makes all the difference – we appreciate it!

And Cinema Epoch has set Samurai Cop (1991) for release on Blu-ray on 11/25, remastered from the “newly discovered” 35mm negatives. Gotta say, I love the cover art. LOL. See below.

Finally today, here’s a little something for you fans of Stanley Kubrick. The British Film Institute and Warner Bros. have commissioned a new theatrical trailer for 2001: A Space Odyssey – the first such trailer in 40 years – to celebrate the BFI’s Sci-Fi: Days of Fears and Wonder exhibition season. It is… in a word… fantastic. Watch it here. Be sure to make it BIG and HD. You’re welcome. (Thanks to Bits reader Marshall C. for the link).
