Wolverine Extended runtime update, Saturn 3 extras, Adore & more

by

All right, today’s post is a quickie as we’re working on a bunch of cool stuff for tomorrow…

First, Dr. Jahnke’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest Se7en continues today with a review of Scream Factory’s Psycho III: Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray Disc!  As it happens, were going to be running a giveaway for this very title over on The Digital Bits Facebook page starting at Noon (Pacific), so head on over there for your chance to win!

By the way, Adam has also updated his review of Universal’s original Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray so the whole trilogy is now covered on BD.  Enjoy!  [Read on here…]

Also here at the site today, our own Russell Hammond has posted the weekly Release Dates & Artwork update featuring all the latest Blu-ray, DVD and Video Game cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links.  As always, a portion of anything you order from the retailer after clicking to them through our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really appreciate it!

Meanwhile, here’s the latest announcement news…

First an update: Our report from the other day about the 165-minute running time of Fox’s The Wolverine: Unleashed Extended Edition came from ThinkJam, which is handling PR on the title.  However, it appears that the information was incorrect.  Director James Mangold has now reported that the actual running time of the Extended Edition is 12 minutes longer than the 126-minute theatrical cut, or 138 minutes – not 165 minutes – and we have officially confirmed that with Fox.  Sorry about that, but we can only report the information we’re given as we’re given it, but we hate reporting inaccurate info.  Anyway – 138 minutes it is.

Paramount has set Anne Fontaine’s Adore for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/10.  The film stars Naomi Watts and Robin Wright-Penn.

Shout! and Scream Factory have set Stanley Donen’s Saturn 3 for release as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo on 12/3, mastered from a new HD transfer.  Extras will officially include audio commentary by Greg Moss (of the Saturn 3 fan site) and film critic David Bradley, interviews with VFX artist Colin Chilvers and actor Roy Dotrice, a deleted scene, additional scenes from the network television version, a stills gallery, the trailer and a TV spot.

Lionsgate has set Shaolin Warrior and Ritual Alive for DVD and digital release on 12/31.

Anchor Bay Films will release Force of Execution on Blu-ray Combo and DVD on 12/17.  The film stars Steven Seagal, Ving Rhames, Bren Foster and Danny Trejo.

Here’s a look at the cover art for Scream’s Saturn 3, Fox’s The Wolverine: Unleashed and CBS’ Star Trek: Enterprise – Season Three (TBA for January)…
