20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of an L.A. Confidential: 20th Anniversary Edition on 9/26. Looks like all the previous extras will carry over, but no new content. Fox has also just set the Buffy the Vampire Slayer film for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/3 as a new 25th Anniversary Edition. The Digital HD release is due on 10/2. Again, it looks as if all the previous extras will carry over.

Kino Lorber has revealed that they’re working on The Woman in the Window (1944) for Blu-ray and DVD from a new HD restoration. They’re going to have a whole certification and logo program as part of this effort. You can read more here at Home Media magazine.

And we need to take a moment today to acknowledge the passing of legendary horror director Tobe Hooper. You’ll know him of course for having made the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), but his work also includes Poltergeist (1982), TV’s Salem’s Lot (1979), and more. He was 74. You can read more here via The New York Times.
