All right, first up this afternoon here at The Bits, our very own Dr. Adam Jahnke has turned in a new Burnt Offerings column featuring a round-up of the last couple week’s MOD release news from the Warner Archive, as well as news of returning Paramount catalog titles (via Warner Archive) and new releases from 20th Century Fox Cinema Archives too!  Don’t miss it.

Also today, we’ve got a triple-threat review Smackdown for you… [...]

To kick things off, Dr. Jahnke has given Warner Archive’s new Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan a look on Blu-ray and found it worth your time.

Next up, I’ve got a review for you of Disney’s forthcoming Blu-ray release of The Muppet Movie – a title that I know many of you have been waiting for in high-definition for a very long time.  It’s streets on 8/13 and I’m pleased to say that it’s been worth the wait!

Finally, our own Todd Doogan takes a look at a great new documentary about our very dear friends Bob & Kathy Burns!  Directed by Trish Geiger and Frank Dietz, Beast Wishes: The Fantastic World of Bob and Kathy Burns is an hour-long look at Bob and Kathy’s life, work and influence within the film industry.  As you may already know, they’re the stewards of “Bob’s Basement” which is one of the single greatest archives of classic Hollywood props and memorabilia there is.  The doc takes you inside the Basement for a look at some of the treasures to be found there and also features interviews with a who’s who of filmmakers and visual effects artists who have befriended Bob and Kathy over the years.  You even get a look at some of the great Burbank Halloween shows the Burns’ have put on over the years.  It’s just a treat.  The documentary is only available on DVD from the official BeastWishes.com website, but trust us when we say that it’s well worth the cost and effort to get yourself a copy.  Enjoy Todd’s review!  (And here’s a look at the trailer for the film...)

By the way, if you come back to The Bits tomorrow afternoon, we’ll post a gallery of some of the many pictures we’ve taken during our very own recent visits to Bob’s Basement – and yes, Bob and Kathy are just the most wonderful people you’ll ever meet in the world!

We’ll see you then!  In the meantime, stay tuned…
