We’ve got a couple quick things for you to kick Monday off right and then we’ll be back later this afternoon with more…

First, you may have heard the news that broke out of Wonder-Con this weekend, that Twin Peaks creator David Lynch has left the new Showtime series reboot project. It all started with word that the plug had actually been pulled on the show, but then word spread that Lynch has told the actors he was leaving because Showtime wouldn’t pony up the money he needed to do it right. Lynch himself tweeted that this was the case – that the production was likely to continue, but not with his involvement. Then Showtime issued a hasty statement to the effect that they were continuing to negotiate with Lynch’s people on the matter. (You can read more on all this here at Deadline Hollywood.) Our guess is that this is an effort to kick a stalled private negotiation in the ass with a little public outrage and pressure. We’ll see. In any case, we don’t believe Showtime has officially pulled the plug yet, and the two parties may yet find a common ground. We’ll have to wait and see.  [Read on here…]

Also, we’re exactly TEN days away from the kick-off of this year’s Star Wars Celebration convention, which will also be in Anaheim. The first full trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens will be unveiled there ahead of its wide public release attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron on 5/1. So there’s that to look forward to.

Little bit of announcement news… we broke a little bit of news out of WonderCon by posting these pictures from the show floor, which confirm that the official street date for Fox’s Lost in Space: The Complete Series Blu-ray set is 9/15.

Also, Lionsgate is re-issuing Miramax’s The Shipping News on Blu-ray on 6/17.

Well Go USA will release Tsui Hark’s The Taking of Tiger Mountain on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/2.

Kino Lorber has set a double feature of Mario Bava’s Evil Eye and The Girl Who Knew Too Much for release on both formats on 5/19.

And Universal Studios has officially set Sergei Bodrov’s Seventh Son for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/26. The film stars Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore.

Finally this morning, in the wake of WonderCon, let me just say that the films I’m most looking forward to in the months ahead are (in no particular order) Max Mad: Fury Road, The Martian, SPECTRE and Star Wars: Episode VII. What are your picks? Feel free to share them here on our Facebook page.

Here’s a look at a little bit of new Blu-ray cover artwork…
