With the President’s Day holiday going here in the States, there’s not a great deal of announcement news to report on this afternoon. However, we do have a couple interesting odds and ends worth mentioning...

BBC Home Entertainment will release Orphan Black: Season Four on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/12.  [Read on here…]

Kino Lorber has announced that they’re working on Candy (1968) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/17, followed by a Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema 5-Disc Blu-ray Box (includes Big House, U.S.A., A Bullet for Joey, He Ran All the Way, Storm Fear, and Witness to Murder) on 5/24. They’ll also release a Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema 4-Disc DVD Box that same day, with the same films minus Big House, U.S.A.. Also coming to Blu-ray and DVD from Kino in May are Back Roads, Steele Justice, and Who Is Harry Kellerman And Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? And in the works for Blu-ray and DVD later in 2016 are Stryker (1983), Something for Everyone (1970), and Man Facing Southeast (1986 – aka Hombre mirando al sudeste).

Blue Underground has set Piers Haggard’s 1981 horror film Venom for Blu-ray release on 5/31. The film stars Klaus Kinski and Oliver Reed.

Filmrise has set the Noam Chomsky documentary Requiem for the American Dream for Blu-ray release on 8/2. They also have Mark Craig’s documentary about NASA astronaut Eugene Cernan, The Last Man on the Moon, set for Blu-ray release on 4/26.

A company called Shami Media Group will release James Franco’s The Sound and the Fury on Blu-ray on 6/28.

Olive Films will release Making the Grade (1984), Bandits (2001), The Boost (1988), and Roger Corman’s The Trip (1967) on Blu-ray on 3/22.

PBS has set Grantchester: Season 2 for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/14.

Cohen Media Group will release Frederico Fellini’s City of Women on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/31.

And here’s a surprise: Mill Creek Entertainment has set Prefontaine for Blu-ray release on 4/5. Mill Creek has also set Just Visiting, My Boyfriend’s Back, a Sun, Sand and Sweat 4 Movie Set (Private Resort, Perfect, Hardbodies, and Spring Break), and a Jean-Claude Van Damme – 5 Movie Pack (The Hard Corps, Universal Soldier: The Return, Maximum Risk, Second in Command, and Knock Off) for Blu-ray release on 3/15.

Finally, in other news, Lucasfilm and Disney have just announced the official start of filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII. Production began at Pinewood Studios today, though the announcement video features the crew on Skellig Island (from last September) with the filming of... well, take a look for yourself...

Back tomorrow. Stay tuned!
