Artist's
Bi Frank Grau
I have always loved playing with colors, how they can sit beside each other peacefully or fight for attention (much like siblings). When I discovered woodcut printmaking, the colors drew me in first as I learned how layering could bring unexpected combinations. Then I began to play with the subjects and textures of the block carving using anything I could find to make marks. (Pie crimpers are fun.) My imagery comes from the natural world and the history of New England that surrounds me every day. A graduate of Smith College and student at the DeCordova Museum School, I have lived in Massachusetts for most of my life.
